The ceremony to mark the death of Bum...
The ceremony to mark the death of Bum the San Diego dog takes place this Wednesday 10th November. Check out the his story on the web site’s ‘Famous Dogs’ section. A similar ceremony will take place at the same time at Bum’s statue in San Diego. The Californian canine sits guarding the gates at West Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh. The ceremony will start at one o’ clock after Shannon the Cannon fires the One o’ Clock Gun. Bum liked a drink. It's possible that Bobby also liked the taste of beer. Although the terrier trotted to a temperance restaurant for his dinner when the time gun fired, he was also known to nip over the road to the ‘Hole in the Wa’ public house in Lindsay Place. Bombardier Blue the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association's mascot will be in parade wearing his stripes for the first time. We would like to thank Tom Jensen of the Gas Lamp Quarter, San Diego for allowing us to use the artwork advertising the ceremony on the web site’s front page. |
