One of the field guns...

Pipe Major AndersonOne of the field guns belonging to 105th Regiment, Royal Artillery (Volunteers) will be towed down from R.A.headquarters at Colinton for Greyfriars Bobby Memorial Day and George Heriot's cadet force will mount an honour guard.

The ground plan was prepared by Captain Roy and RSM Roxby for the historic event, the first of many to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the world famous time-gun. Colonel Huthwaite the commanding officer will welcome the guests just before one.

Following the firing of the One o' Clock Gun by Sergeant Shannon the District Gunner, the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh and Mark Lazarowicz MP for Leith will say a few words on the importance of the time-gun to the city.

Bombardier Blue assisted by Sarah Anderson will then lay a wreath at Greyfriars Bobby’s headstone. The guests will then be led to Greyfriars Kirk by Pipe Major Anderson.

The ceremony is open to the public and we’d be glad to see you if you can arrive at the kirkyard before one o’ clock.

This week's photograph taken by John Lovie shows Pipe Major Anderson the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association’s piper.
