The re-enactment...
The re-enactment of the first official firing of the One o’ Clock Gun will take place on the Half Moon Battery at Edinburgh Castle on Saturday 11th June, following a Royal twenty one gun Salute. 150 years ago Greyfriars Bobby's ears pricked up when he heard the sound of the time-gun going off. Being a methodical dog he decided to use the sound of the time-gun as a signal to go for his dinner. The terrier’s daily ritual attracted crowds of people who stood outside the gates of Greyfriars Kirk to see Bobby trot out of the burial ground into the pages of history. The gunners of 105th Regt. R.A. (V.) commanded by RSM Craig Roxby will fire the signal on the 11th. As the gunners been practicing for weeks, the time gun should be heard in the city bang on time. If you're planning a visit to Edinburgh, don't forget to visit the Castle on Saturday morning, 11th June. |
