George RobertsonFloral Clock Day takes place on Tuesday 9th August.

The One o’Clock Gun & Time Ball Association had hoped that the 150th Anniversary of the One o’ Clock Gun would have been featured on this year’s Floral Clock but the committee’s application failed to hit the target.

Although Action on Hearing Loss Scotland was awarded the honour of having the organisation’s 100th Anniversary featured on the world famous clock, the committee decided to go ahead with the ceremony.

Delia Henry the Director of Action on Hearing Loss Scotland has kindly agreed to attend the ceremony and Mr George Robertson  the wood carver who carved the Floral Clock cuckoo will also be present.

As Shannon the Cannon fires the One o’ Clock Gun from the Mills Mount Battery, the capital's cuckoo will pop out signalling that it's time for the Lord Provost to start his speech.

We hope that you can come along.

This week’s photograph shows Mr George Robertson (woodcarver) and his wife in 1970.
