Most of the modern day versions of the story of the little dog are based on Eleanor’s book. Being a journalist she based her tale on the story as reported in the press, embellishing the facts from her own imagination. In addition to spending time on researching the facts, she also made an effort to get the names of the characters correct and to portray the atmosphere of Victorian Edinburgh. 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of Eleanor’s beautifully crafted book which is timeless and continues to attract thousands of visitors to the Scottish capital. |
