The Seaforth Highlanders...
‘The Adventures of Greyfriars Bobby’ released in 2005 which portrayed Bobby as a belonging to Police Constable John Gray of the Edinburgh City Police Force also portrayed the terrier's best friend Colour Sergeant Scott of the Royal Engineers as a Seaforth Highlander. In the 1880’s when the Seaforths returned to Scotland after service abroad in India, Afghanistan and Egypt, the Highland regiment was accompanied by Pat an Irish terrier who had belonged to one of the officers. When Pat died the terrier was buried in the Dog’s Cemetery at Edinburgh Castle. Pat’s headstone reads: ‘In Memory of Pat who followed the 72nd Highlanders in peace and war for 10 years, Died 9th March 1888.
