Routine inspection of Mons Meg...
Blue was promoted to bombardier by Colonel Huthwaite, commanding officer of 105th Regiment R.A. (V.) on the Mills Mount Battery, Edinburgh Castle on 4th October to mark World Animal Day. Colonel Huthwaite also presented the winners of the Greyfriars Bobby Childrens Painting Competition with their certificates and book tokens. Unfortunately the pupils of Brae High School could not attend as it would have meant travelling from Shetland in the far north. Childrens book illustrator John Fardell who judged the entries told the winners that he had been highly impressed with the standard of their work. The winners’ artwork can be seen on the Photo Gallery section. Colonel Huthwaite will be dropping the Nelson Monument time ball on Friday 8th October at one o' clock.
