September’s edition of the Greyfriars Bobby Magazine features the story of John Foord the shepherd and his sheepdog who froze to death during a snowstorm in 1795. The shepherd was buried in the burial ground of Corstorphine Old Parish Church not far from Edinburgh. A small stone stands beside the shepherd's headstone to commemorate the faithful dog who died at his master’s side. The magazine also contains a first class review of Jan Bondeson’s new book on Greyfriars Bobby. The small exhibition featuring Colour Sergeant Scott and the world famous dog on display in the case outside the entrance of the Scottish Department, Central Library, George IV Bridge is receiving a lot of attention. |
