The One o'Clock Gun & Time Ball Association was founded in 1998 and established a three-month long exhibition at Edinburgh Castle as part of the Millennium celebrations in 2000. Thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the offer of a site by Historic Scotland, the exhibition is now a permanent fixture within the Castle, located at the Mills Mount Battery. Blue Lovie is the official mascot of the One o'clock Gun & Time Ball Association.
Known locally simply as Greyfriars Bobby, or even Bobby's Bar, this bar and restaurant features in almost every visitors picture of the famously modest memorial. Recent restoration of the bar and restaurant, and of its late-eighteenth century building, includes a neuk devoted to Bobby, and a colourful outdoor mural. It's said that staff helped look after Bobby in the terrier's later years. Nowadays its sustenance and refreshment of a higher quality that's offered to human patrons. Parliament House Hotel has it's own extensive history. Jacobean and Georgian buildings have been carefully brought together to form an elegant fifty-three bedroom hotel. We’ve retained many period features and introduced a little local character as well to all our rooms.
