The Lord Provost ...
In 1867 William Chambers the city’s Lord Provost became Bobby’s protector by buying him a licence and a collar. It’s not known if Bobby visited the restaurant before it was taken over by John Traill. 105th Regiment, R.A. (Volunteers) will be taking part in the ceremony as 2011 marks the 150th anniversary of the setting up of the One o’ Clock Gun which Bobby used as a signal to go for his dinner. Bombardier Blue the mascot of the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association will be laying the wreath. Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony which takes place as usual at one o’ clock. This week’s photograph taken by John Lovie shows OCGTA Chairman Brian McKenzie and Blue standing at the statue of Lord Provost Chambers. |
