While Greyfriars Bobby's being photographed...
Bum’s picture appeared on the first dog licence to be issued by the city of San Diego. Bum who was a cross between a St. Bernard and a spaniel lost his forepaw in an accident on a railway line during a fight with another dog. The American dog’s statue was presented to the City of Edinburgh in 2008. Although it's recorded that Bum preferred beer, the photo taken by Tommy Robertson of Backtracks shows the Mad Hatter offering him a cup of tea. If you’re planning to visit Edinburgh for the Festival why not follow the Mad Hatter’s example and pay Bum a visit. |
While Greyfriars Bobby's being photographed by the tourists and the spot where he’s reckoned to be buried heaped with soft toys, Bum sits in solitude at the back gate of Princes Street Gardens.
