Monty the Labrador passed away...

MontyMonty the Labrador passed away this week. A well known character in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh, Monty could be seen soaking up the sun outside Copymade in West Maitland Street during the summer months.

A first class swimmer, the photograph shows him taking a paddle in the Water of Leith. Being a Lab, Monty loved to get wet.

When out for a walk along the Union Canal he spotted a duck. Taking off like a bullet along the towpath, Monty launched himself into the air like a rocket, hitting the water like an exploding bomb.

At that time the canal was not too clean. After being hauled with great difficulty from the watery rubbish tip, covered with oil, Monty returned to Copymade a different colour than when he set out.

Montgomerie IV of Haymarket will be sadly missed, especially by his owner Stuart Wardell.
