The Story Teller...

January 14th

‘The Legend of Greyfriars Bobby’ presented by Isobel Skeldon was well received by the pupils of George Heriot’s School last Wednesday.

In Eleanor Atkinson’s novel ‘Greyfriars Bobby’ the author mentioned the fact that the terrier was the special pet of the Heriots laddies and the tenement children during the Burgh Court hearing to find out the person responsible for paying for the dog’s licence.

After Isobel had finished singing, Brian McKenzie kitted out as Colour Sergeant Scott conducted a question and answer session before marching the pupils back to their classrooms.

The One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association would like to thank the school staff especially Helen Murphy, Gillian Stott and Gwen Donnelly for inviting Isobel, Kit, Brian and Blue to present the story of the world famous dog.

This week’s photograph shows the pupils of Primary 3 (shown with the permission of their parents), when they took part in Greyfriars Bobby’s Memorial Day on 14th January.
