The Shining Lights' exhibition...
More than 6,200 miles long and including more than 760 islands, Scotland's jagged coastline is one of the most dangerous to navigate in the world. The exhibition tells the story of the people who designed, built and operated Scotland’s lighthouses, providing a safe passage for mariners for more than 250 years. In addition to tracing the development of lighthouse technology, the fascinating exhibition shows the difficult and dangerous conditions the keepers had to cope with. The appeal for funds to erect a life-size statue of Robert Stevenson’s ten-year-old son in North Berwick has begun. Check out: www.bluelovie.co.uk for further details. This week’s photograph shows Isobel Skeldon dressed as Mary Brown. Isobel will be entertaining the pupils of Primary 3 at George Heriot’s School on Wednesday with the 'Legend of Greyfriars Bobby'. 'The Shining Lights' exhibition which runs until Sunday 3rd April is not to be missed. |
