Thursday 16th September marks the anniversary...
Nineteen year old Sergeant (Air Bomber) John Traill Leitch (466 R.A.A.F.) was killed when two Halifax bombers collided during a bombing raid on Kiel during the Second World War. His remains are buried in Aabenraa Cemetery, Denmark. The airman’s father was John Traill Leitch the son of Eliza Ann the restaurant owner’s daughter. Sergeant Leitch is commemorated on John and Mary Traill’s memorial in Newington Cemetery, Edinburgh. The Greyfriars Bobby Childrens Painting Competition deadline has been extended until 18th September due to the number of entries still coming in. |
