The ‘Legend of Greyfriars Bobby’...
Isobel, Kit, Brian and Blue will be returning to the school at a future date with Isobel’s ‘Robert Louis Stevenson in North Berwick’ presentation. The Stevenson brothers and their families spent their summer holidays at Colinton Manse on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Robert's grandfather the Reverend Balfour was minister at Colinton Church. After their father-in-law died, David and Thomas Stevenson decided to lease villas for the summer at North Berwick, East Lothian. Robert’s father later leased a cottage at Swanston on the slopes of the Pentlands not far from Colinton. When Robert's dog Coolin died at the age of twelve, the Skye terrier was buried at the cottage. This week's photograph courtesy of Peter Stubbs shows an unusual shot of the cottage during the winter.
