The two ceremonies...

Isobel and MaryThe two ceremonies to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of the Great Lafayette and his dog Beauty at Piershill Cemetery, Edinburgh went well.

The ceremony for Beauty was conducted by Bishop Rev. Dr. Bill Mackie while Isobel Skeldon of the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association told the story of the tragedy at both ceremonies.

Bombardier Blue the Association’s mascot assisted by Brian McKenzie the Association’s Chairman kitted out as Colour Sergeant Scott laid a wreath on Beauty’s grave.

Television magician Paul Daniels assisted by the glamorous Debbie McGee plus Scott Penrose and company, paid tribute to the great magician at the Festival Theatre where the tragedy took place.

There is now a small exhibition on the Great Lafayette on display at Piershill Library.
