Being widened...
A couple of years ago the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association suggested that the world famous dog’s statue could be highlighted by illuminating the terrier with a Victorian-style street light similar to the lamp post which stood behind the drinking fountain during the 19th century. The plan was supported by Edinburgh Central MSP, Sarah Boyack. The city's Lighting Department liked the idea and promised to consider various options which would allow the little dog to be photographed sitting on his pedestal at night. The illustration by James Cadenhead showing the local bobby cautioning a late night reveller is reproduced by permission of the Central Library, Edinburgh. Check out www.capitalcollections.org.uk |
