Work in progressThis week’s photograph taken by David Rintoul, shows the work now in progress around Bobby’s drinking fountain.

George IV Bridge designed by architect Thomas Hamilton to connect the city’s south side to the New Town was constructed between 1829 and 1832 as part of the Improvement Act of 1827.

Bobby would follow Colour Sergeant Scott along George IV Bridge to his office when he left his lodgings at the top of Candlemaker Row to go to work.

The ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Beauty takes place this Wednesday at noon in Piershill Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Bishop Rev. Dr. Bill Mackie. Isobel Skeldon the One o’ Clock Gun & Time Ball Association's Events Manager will be telling the story of the dog who was the centre of the Great Lafayette’s life.

Bombardier Blue the Association’s mascot will be laying the wreath on Beauty’s grave while Pipe Major Anderson plays a lament.
